Coming off free practice 1, the Ferrari’s top the table. Carlos Sainz leads Charles Leclerc by +0.021s. Max Verstappen showed good pace in the Red Bull, placing his car in p3 +0.253s behind the Ferrari pair. Even with the good showing from Verstappen, both McLarens are right on their tail. Lando Norris in p4 followed by Oscar Piastri. Followed by the pair of Mercedes drivers in p6 and p7 respectively. Finally, Kevin Magnussen in the Hass, Fernado Alonso leading the Aston Martins, and finally Yuki Tsunoda rounding out the top ten.
Liam Lawson’s return to Formula 1 will see him start at the back of the grid for sunday. The RB will be taking a host of power unit changes, including internal combustion engine, turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K, and a new engine. These penalties will be taken during the qualifying for the race, not the sprint race or sprint qualifying.
Finally, congratulations to Alex Albon as he goes to Texas on his 100th Grand Prix weekend. Hopefully Albon will be able to bring home a good result for Williams this weekend.
